OUR TIME HAS COME — by B.F. MAIZ

By Cheryl, January 1, 2010 2:17 pm

Your moment is upon you.

Thus,

With the trustworthy thrust

of your own heart you must

walk,

walk,

walk down the long

pink-bright tongue of gods

like the velvet-cloaked emperors and kings

once walked down the long

bright red carpet

of uncircumscribed privilege.

You must run …

run toward the laughing

sun of your joy

with the speed of a gazelle…

When I was about 11 years old, the poet B.F. Maiz got involved with my Dad’s church in Texas.
His poetry recitation has been described as one part poetry, one part theater and one large part deep philosophy and humanism.  His presence made a lasting impression on my life.
